I’m not a robot

Yeah, well obviously, but amazingly some people recently think I am, so I thought I’d post here to clear things up.

Here’s what happens.

When launching new companies on Motivii, I will quite often go and do the main presentation launch. Then once you sign up to the service you see a lovely chat box sometimes with my face in it (depending who’s online).

Recently, employees of new clients (especially in media agencies) have tested the service to see if there is a real person there or whether I’m a robot!

Some of these tests are quite funny. I’ve been sent a gif of a toddler dressed as a bear:

I’ve been sent a gif of an actual bear dancing.

I’ve been sent basic maths questions.

I’ve been sent random questions.

And most hurtfully, I’ve been sent a picture of an office worker made of plastic cups — is this what they think of me?

Now it’s not just one-way traffic. I can’t help to play along and pretend that I am a robot e.g. give very basic answers that make it look like I would fail the Turing test.

After which it’s funny to freak them out with some big reveal that i’m not a robot, like commenting on how I think the skylight in their boardroom must make meetings very hot in the summer… That usually results in a response like this!

Jokes aside, it makes me question why people do this when they see my picture… do I look like a robot? (Please don’t answer that.)

It could be that they are are trying to pick apart the tech, they are trying to test the dimensions of Motivii’s brand voice or maybe they want to speak to a human, not a robot?

However, the penny dropped the other week when someone said that they “just didn’t expect the CEO to do customer service!” This shocked me.

I genuinely love talking to our customers and getting to understand what they think; it’s one of the best ways we get ideas to improve Motivii.

So in short, Motivii doesn’t use robots for customer service, I’m definitely not a robot, and I’ll continue to enjoy getting involved with our customers.
